Joyce Pensato (américaine, née en 1941 à Brooklyn) est une peintre contemporaine, connue pour ses grandes toiles de dessins animés réalisées sur des émaux noir et blanc. Son père, graveur, l’encourage à poursuivre des études artistiques. Elle étudie à la New York Studio School, où elle développe un intérêt pour des éléments liés à la culture pop, à commencer par Batman. Cela sert de catalyseur à son projet de toiles éclaboussées représentant des personnages et des mascottes connus, comme Homer Simpson, Donald Duck et Mickey Mouse.

Pensato est née en 1941 à Brooklyn, New York. Des expositions personnelles ont eu lieu au Museum of Contemporary Art, St. Louis (2017) ; le Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (2016) ; le Kunstraum Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Autriche (2016) ; le Musée d'art moderne de Fort Worth, Fort Worth, Texas (2015) ; et le Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica, Californie (2013). Elle est représentée par la Petzel Gallery, New York, où elle a eu quatre expositions personnelles ; Lisson Gallery, Londres, où elle a eu des expositions personnelles en 2017 et 2014 ; Corbett contre Dempsey, Chicago ; et Grice Bench, Los Angeles. Elle a également exposé avec la Galerie Anne de Villepoix, Paris (2010, 2000, 1998, 1996, 1994).
